Location Scout #1

Hi, Henry here!

I like to make movies, and I wanted to share that passion with the group. So we decided to be ambitious, and make a movie together. But there are so many steps!

After a big brainstorming session in the studio, we created a map of ideas to choose from.

The next step was to look at all of the ideas, and think of some good locations to set the scenes of our story.

On this day Theo, Finn, Nora, Angel and I looked over the brainstorming chart in a nearby cafe.

Theo was cast as Jack Frost, a character we are familiar with from other stories but we wanted to make it our own.

We decided that the sloping hills of the Trinity Bellwoods dog park would be perfect for his home!

Nora was designated the official photographer for the day, and took some great photos for inspiration.

Finn was cast as the Goblin King, so we decided that we might include a scene where he has a dinner party with Jack Frost, right in between two matching trees.

And just in case they might need a hideout in the story, Nora took a photo of what that would look like.

We are planning our next location scout very soon! Here is a final snap of Theo, who is positively glowing! Can you figure out what is making his coat light up like that?

Goodbye 2010

Skating was great fun! We'll definitely be skating in the new year too!

It wouldn't have been Dufferin Grove without the mini pizzas and cookies

Winter Fun

We got very excited about rolling down and running up snowy hills upon arriving at Dufferin Grove last Thursday.

By the skating rink, there were piles of icy snow, so we decided to build an igloo.

It took brute force, perseverance, creativity, and cooperation.

Mad dog's music and stories accompanied us during snack time and while we enjoyed cookies! We also got seeds for the Trinity Bellwoods Community Green House at the farmer's market. The seeds were planted on Friday. So, with good care, there should be mustard greens and cheery tomatoes comes springtime!

Bundling Up, It's Cold Outside!

Earlier last week, we observed a protest at Nathan Phillips Square. We danced to the drum beats, enjoyed observing all the different signs and noise-making devices people had, and were attentive and patience during the speeches that were very difficult to understand. Most of all, we enjoyed the hot cocoa a nice lady made for us!

She brought everything she needed to make everybody hot cocoa on her bicycle!

Hanukkah Olympics

We lit the Hanukkah Menorah together, on the fourth day of Hanukkah.

On the last Friday of every month, all of us get together to have an "olympics" where there are multiple stations of activities that all the children take turn participating in.
