Water awareness

On Thursday, we had the privilege of projecting moving images onto a big white wall!

Since we recently celebrated World Water Day and Canada Water Week, the teachers chose a few water related things to project before all the children got their pick on the NFB website. First we navigated through an "interactive movie" - Waterlife - about all different aspects of water. Then, we watched a  funny documentary called The Rise and Fall of The Great Lakes. Lastly, we enjoyed an animation, Deep Threat, made in 1977 highlighting how industrial pollution effects the delicate balance of our ecosystem.

Little Jamaica

We've been meaning to go up to Little Jamaica in relationship to Black History Month.

We walked up and down Eglinton West and observed that there are lots of cosmetics stores
and that many store signs use neon yellow and green (the colours of Jamaican flag!)

We tried some plantain covered in honey and homemade Jamaican drink "sorrel".

We also tried some delicious jerk chicken

... and goat

Happy March Break everybody! Next week is also Canada Water Week!

Find your mark

A new thing we're doing at the dance studio is to tape down marks on the floor in order to help the children focus as well as to ensure that everybody gets a clear look of themselves in the mirror. On Tuesday, we did some stretches and reviewed the dance moves we've learned and came up with over the past months, before playing the beloved game "Octopus".

Dance Studio Fun

We've been renting out a dance studio the Trinity Bellwoods Recreation Centre on Tuesdays. The children have been most enjoying setting up their pretty challenging obstacle course with all the props and gadgets at the space. We've also been working towards forming dance routines and coming up with original dance moves. Thanks to all the parents for helping make this arrangement possible!

We made some sock puppets on Wednesday. 

On Friday, we worked hard on making drawings of our characters
and their customs for the movie that we're making with Henry.
