Planting a "forest" to welcome spring

On Tuesday, we finally got to bring together all the plants we've been taking care of at the studio to create a mini forest. There was "Prickly Caremel" from last year, the four plants we bought in Roncesvalle two weeks ago, and a cactus that showed up at the studio all by itself! We first created a landscape in Tofino's late home with pebbles that were given to us last week at a neighborhood lumber yard. Then, we discussed the arrangement of the plants and voted on whether to have a path through the forest, making the final decisions as a group. Filling the forest up with soil was a bit tricky especially around the prickly plants. We also learned that transplanting can be a very traumatic experience for plants.

401 Richmond trip

First, we dropped by Little Nicky's Coffee for snack time.
It was fun watching the mini donuts being made!
We got a dozen of them to share.
We explored all kinds of different instruments at Musideum.
Only if Maylee was with us to play this harp!
Mark, who works there, was very kind. He demonstrated on many different instruments for us.
After exploring the rooftop garden, the glass elevator, and the scary basement at 401 Richmond,
we climbed and admired this public art sculpture.

"There's chocolate gushing out!"

We baked some pretty healthy cookies to share with our families.

First, you combine 3 ripe bananas, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract,
and 1/4 cup of warm coconut oil.
In a separate bowl, mix 2 cups of rolled oats, 2/3 cup of flaxseed meal,
1/3 cup of shredded coconut, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1/2 tsp of salt,
and 1 tsp of baking powder. Mix the wet and dry ingredients.
Then, fold in as many chocolate chunks as you'd like!
Since there is no flour in these cookies, they don't expand much at all.
We set aside one cookie for each one of our family members
(hot blooded animals included) before enjoying the cookies ourselves!

The cycling giants show their true colours

This week the girls started traveling to the studio on wheels. It's been really fun and exciting! We even spent all of Tuesday sharpening up our biking and scootering skills in Trinity Bellwoods - we warmed up with a longer ride around the bowl, rode around the wading pool as if it was a velodrome, had mini races, and set up bike/scooter obstacle courses.
